Easter At FOTP Grapevine

Wednesday, 31 March 2010 10:15 by Charles

This Sunday will be our second Easter Sunday at Fellowship of the Parks Grapevine.  Please join us if you don't have a church home.  Our services will be at 9:30 and 11 and we are located at Faith Christian School (730 E. Worth Street, Grapevine)  We share the school with another church Grace Bible Church.  Be sure and follow the FOTP signs but if you end up at Grace Bible Church you will have a great experience.

As I think of that day in 1979 when I was overcome by the power of God's great affection, I am reminded of the words of a song written by the late Rich Mullins:

There is a wideness in God's mercy

That I cannot find in my own

That keeps a fire burning

To melt this heart of stone

Keeps me aching with a yearning

Makes me glad to have been caught

In that reckless, raging fury

That they call the love of God

Our prayer at FOTP Grapevine is that many people this Easter will get caught up in that reckless raging fury that they call the love of God.

Caroline Returns

Saturday, 20 March 2010 01:41 by Charles

Caroline (my youngest) returns today from a two week mission trip to India.  I am so thankful that she got to go and even more thankful that she wanted to go.  We have a saying at Faith Christian School that goes like this – “You will be the same person a year from now that you are today with the exception of the places you go, the people you meet and the books you read.”  There is no doubt in my mind that the young lady we pick up at the airport in just an hour or so will be a much different person than the one that left.

Thank all of you who prayed for her while she was gone.  We sensed your support.  It gave us a sense of peace that surpassed understanding.

Caroline is in India

Thursday, 11 March 2010 06:45 by Charles

I have said it often, but I am so blessed to get to spend my life with John, Jenilee and Caroline as well as with Pat.  My kids are an inspiration to me.  Caroline, my 16 year old daughter is in India on a two week mission trip with a group from Faith Christian School.  From the day she learned about the trip she has known that God called her to go.  She never wavered.  She raised most of her on support.

The team left on Saturday and after a 17 hour flight landed in India.  They are working with an orphanage.  If you are interested you can keep up with them at www.teamindia2010.blogspot.com

What To Do On The Worst Day of Your Life by Brian Zahnd

Wednesday, 3 March 2010 02:44 by Charles

Simply bought this book because of the title.  It is short, simple, easy to read and is full of practical information.

The book is based on the Old Testament story of David when he has been appointed King by God but Saul is still king in man’s eyes.  David and a band of men and their families are camped in an area called Ziklag.  While the men are away the Amalekites invade the camp taking all the women and children along with their possessions.  David returns to have a head on collision with the worst day of his life.

The 10 chapters are basically the ten steps you should take on the worst day of your life.

The titles are as follows:

1.  Weep

2. Don’t get bitter

3. Encourage yourself in the Lord

4. Get a word from God

5. Reorient your vision

6. Regain your passion

7..Attack

8. Recover all

9. Celebrate Recovery

10. Give to others

This book was not off the charts but worth the time it took to read.  It could be a good source of encouragement for anyone going through a tough time in life.
