I heard several people mention this book by David Platt. I decided to give it a try even though when I read a few pages in the store I was not immediately drawn to the message. I should have trusted my instincts.
The message of the book is simple - Christians in America need to get radical about following Christ. Compared to other Christians in the world we are soft and self-centered. No one can argue with this message. It is absolutely true. The problem for me is that other writers have shared this message in a much more compelling fashion in my opinion. Books like The Barbarian Way by Erin McManus and In a Pit with a Lion on a Snowy Day by Mark Batterson not only conveyed the message but did so in a way that inspired me to want to do mighty things for God.
