This book is a follow up to Chapman’s book, The Five Love Languages. He was motivated to write the book when he realized that knowing the five love languages does not help someone who is not willing to live in a loving way.
The book is broken into three parts: Part1 Why We Want to Love Part 2 The Seven Secrets of Love and Part 3 Making Love a Way of Life
Part 1 is short and highly motivational. Part 2 introduces the seven secrets of love which are kindness, patience, forgiveness, courtesy, humility, generosity, and honesty. Part 3 is about making love as a way of life in marriage, parenting, the workplace, and the motivation for love.
I got bogged down before I got to part 3. The book starts strong but most of it has to do with things that we know we should do but sometimes we choose not to do. It got a little wordy and the illustrations were long and involved at this point. He did give some practical steps on how to improve in each of the seven areas he mentions.
It is a good book but not one I recommend highly. Not a book a lot men would be motivated to read, not that it wouldn’t help them. It just is not something that would hold their interest.
