I have lots of new things going on in my life including this blog. I am excited about letting others know about what is going on in my life and looking forward to sharing all kinds of information that might be helpful to others such as insight into the latest books I have read.
The big news is that the church where I have been serving part time, Fellowship of the Parks in Keller is starting a new satellite campus. While we do not know the exact location we are looking at the Grapevine area. As the teaching pastor I would speak a the new campus three Sundays out of the month and at the Keller location once a month (I have been speaking once a month there for the last year and half). Our pastor Doug Walker will speak at the main campus three Sundays each month and once a month a the new campus.
During the last y ear and a half I have been serving with Apartment Life, a non-profit organization that is dedicated to building community in apartment properties. Starting in July, my time will be slit with 50% dedicated to FOTP and the other to Apartment Life.
Pat, Caroline our fourteen year old and I are so excted about this opportunity. We love the fact that as a satellite of FOTP our focus will be reaching the lost. For the last 25 years, our family has been able to build relationships with so many unchurched people through things such as my speaking opportunites in the business sector as well through Pat's promotional products business. The thought of being able to reach those people with the good news of God's love and forgiveness is exciting.
We look forward to being able to reproduce the FOTP style of worship which is so appealing to those who do not have a church background and yet engaging for Christ- followers as well. The come as you are format is refreshing.
As we began to pray about this possiblity we knew that it would not be without its challenges. The bottom line is that to reach the lost it is worth the price. We are blessed that God has raised up three core families to partner with us. All these families are from different church backgrounds. We are so blessed to have them with us.
At 54 years old, I had to take a long look at my life and the time that I may have left. I concluded that I needed to do all that I can to reach as many people as I can for the as long as I can.
