People ask me how do I find time to read all those books (I try to read a book a week). They assume I am a speed reader but trust me I am not. In fact, I was not a good reader in school. In the first grade we had reading groups named after birds - the redbirds, the blue birds. I was in the crows. I did not develop a desire to read until after I became a Christ follower at the age of 26. Pat my wife had made a list of characteristics she wanted in a husband and one of those was that he liked to read. I did not know that until several years after we met but my interest in reading began about the time we met. I was 28 at the time.
I try to have two or three books going on at a time. I seldom read more than 10 minutes at a time but I will read while watching a football game or any time I have a few spare minutes. I like to keep a book in my car to read when I have to wait at the doctors office or some place like that. After years of reading I know what kind of books interest me. I enjoy spiritual books that help me make my faith practical or that inspire me to move to a new level spiritually. I love to read books on marketing as well as books on human behavior. I seldom read fiction.
I plan on sharing later more but this quote by Eleanor Roosevelt sums it up, "Those who can read and do not, have no advantage over those who cannot read."
